Drink Safe Technology, Inc. is the innovative leader in producing
products to help detect the presence of illicit drugs such as GHB
and Ketamine in alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.
These colourless, odourless and tasteless drugs were impossible
to detect until now.
Australian Institute of Criminology research shows that 4,500 people
a year have their drinks spiked and approximately 40 per cent of
them are then sexually assaulted. Approximately 10% of spiking victims
are male. It is unclear how large the problem is due to under- reporting
of these incidents and therefore the lack of evidence.
In most cases, this is how it happens: Perpetrators target unsuspecting
victims by slipping illicit drugs into their beverages at dance
parties, bars or nightclubs. These substances are colourless, tasteless
and odourless so the victim has absolutely no way of knowing that
the drink he or she is about to consume will cause severe impairment
and leave him or her vulnerable. The victim is then left at the
mercy of the perpetrator(s), led away and then a crime may be committed.
"Drink Safe Technologies and Queensland authorities work together with drink spiking awareness campaign"
A large quantity of customised test coaters are being distributed in Queensland to help raise the awareness and deter incidents of drink spiking. Stay tuned for more details in the following months.
